The dissertation focuses on students and teachers faced with the challenges presented by the growing emphasis on globalization, and by the increasing demands for literacy in new media.  My research develops a theoretical model for a rhetorical reading of cultural “texts” in the context of cross-cultural learning experiences.

Senior Pastor and Revitalization Director                1997-2007
Urban New Jersey & Suburban South Carolina
directed a unique type of “rebuilding” ministry which involved the normal duties of pastoral care, preaching, teaching and training, as well as defining organizational identity and mission, promoting the church to the community, and recruiting and placing volunteers in the organization. My weekly public services incorporated a wide range of multimodalities and communication approaches.

 My duties include pre-interviews, writing, planning segments and coordinating guest appearances, as well as serving as on-air host for the show, which aired in the greater NYC area.

Youth Ministry Specialist                        1982-1995
20 combined years experience as Youth Pastor, speaker, and counselor in ministry programs in local churches, and as State Director of Youth Programs for the South Carolina District offices of our Denominational Fellowship. I implemented training events and established professional network for over 100 churches, and planned large events with concerts, multimedia shows and athletic events. I also organized and conducted youth service projects in urban areas such as Charleston, SC, Washington DC and San Salvador, El Salvador.
